Legendary cross country and track coach
Chuck Koeppen was inducted into the IUPUI Hall of Fame in 2022. Koeppen originally joined the IUPUI coaching staff in December 2008 and piloted the men's cross country program to five league titles, spanning both the Summit League and Horizon League. He built the IUPUI program into a recognizable name, largely through in-state recruiting and athlete development, ultimately capturing the 2014 and 2015 Summit League titles.
The Jaguars later earned three straight Horizon League titles in 2019, 2020 and 2021. Koeppen led the Jaguars to three top-10 finishes in the NCAA Great Lakes Region in cross country and consistent regional rankings throughout his tenure.
Individually, he had two student-athletes earn individual league titles in cross country and another earn Horizon League Championship MVP honors during the 2020 indoor season. He coached three student-athletes to NCAA Regional berths in outdoor track and the program's first-ever NCAA qualifier on the track as former standout
Robert Murphy earned a spot in the 3,000m steeplechase.
