Built in 1982, the IU Natatorium is one of the marquee swimming & diving venues in the world. The Nat has hosted countless nationally recognized events, including USA Olympic trials, the 2003 Mega Zone Championships and the ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships. The Natatorium is also home to the annual IHSAA boys and girls swimming championships, along with housing various swimming clubs from across the Midwest.

The Jaguar men's and women's swimming and diving teams have called the Natatorium home since their inception in 1998.

Greg Louganis, Michael Phelps and Jenny Thompson dot the list of those who have competed at the facility, known as one of the world's fastest pools.

The Main Competition Pool of the IU Natatorium is 50-meters with eight racing lanes. Two moveable Bulkheads allow for long or short course events as well as hosting water polo and synchronized swimming. The seating capacity of the Natatorium is 4,700 making it the largest indoor pool in the United States. There is also room for additional seating of 1,500 on deck.

The depth of the pool is 9 feet at the ends and 10 feet at center of pool. Water temperature is kept at 79 degrees. The main pool contains six underwater windows for television and coaching analysis. There are approximately one million gallons of water in the main pool. Currently there have been 90 American Records and 12 World Records set in the pool to date.

Among the amenities are a state of the art timing system and an LCD scoreboard, located high along the North wall.
