The Jungle
Address:Â 901 W. New York St.; 46202
Capacity:Â 1,215
The Jungle (IU Indy Gymnasium) was opened in 1982 and is the home to the IU Indianapolis basketball and volleyball teams. Located on the main concourse of the IU Natatorium, the facility provides the Jaguars' teams a distinct home court advantage.Â
After receiving a major facelift in the summer of 2007, the capacity has decreased to 1,215, but provides an up-close perspective of NCAA Division I competition. New chair back seating was installed on both sides of the court, similar to those found at Bankers Life Fieldhouse or the newly constructed Lucas Oil Stadium.Â
The Jungle is the former home of the Nike Basketball All-America camp and hosted the USA Basketball Team during the 2002 FIBA World Championships in Indianapolis. In addition, it has hosted the Knox Indy Pro-Am for three years. Among the recognizable names that have competed in the Jungle are Lebron James, Reggie Miller, Dwyane Wade, Danny Granger, Ben Wallace and Tim Duncan.
