Marissa Chew joined the IUPUI women's staff in January 2018 and will coach the Jaguars' sprinters, jumpers and multis athletes. Chew comes to IUPUI from Wabash College and is widely regarded as one of the top multis and jumps coaches in the Midwest.

Since joining the program, Chew has established a foundation for IUPUI sprinters, jumpers and multi athletes to be successful. In 2019, she saw new school records established in five events during indoor season, keyed by two apiece from Lauren Palmer (100 & 200) and Kelly Zehnder (TJ & PV). During outdoor season, her athletes set seven new school records and her jumping group of Zehnder and Hallie Mockobee scored points at the Horizon League Championships, as did freshman hurdler Marie Terry.

Chew spent one season at Wabash on the heels of serving as jumps coach at San Francisco State University from 2014-16. Prior to that, she coached six seasons at the high school level, overseeing a number of different disciplines.

At SFSU, Chew coached a school record holder in the long jump, five All-CCAA performers, an All-West Region finisher and a CCAA scholar-athlete recipient. The 2016 SFSU women finished fourth in the conference with a school record point total, trailing a pair of D2 powerhouses in Chico State and UC San Diego.

During her time as an assistant at the prep level, Chew had California State qualifiers in four-straight years from 2010-13, headlined by future UC Berkeley standout Jonte Grant. During his high school career, Grant achieved State qualifying marks in the long jump (24'6), triple jump (48'11.25) and high jump (6'8). He later went on to become a NCAA D1 Nationals qualifier in the triple jump.

Chew has achieved the highest level of education available through USATF in the Jumps (Level 3). Her USATF Level 2 training included Jumps, Sprints/Hurdles/Relays, Youth and Combined Events.

She is one just a few who has been able to attend the course at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.. Simultaneously, Chew was able to be awarded a Level 5 certification via International Associations of Athletics Federations (IAAF) in the Jumps. There she was able to get one-on-one mentoring from elite and international coaches. She is also certified in several different event groups by the USATF. She also completed the US Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Associations Strength and Conditioning course with acclaimed coaches Boo Schexnayder and Carrie Lane which also certifies her with the NCAA as well.
